The USA W50 team put it all out there but Spain, especially on the slow red clay in Rome was too tough and won the Maria Bueno Cup, taking both singles matches in straight sets. Congrats to team USA and to team Espana.
The Women’s 55 team finished fifth in the Maureen Connolly Cup, beating So Africa 2/1 in the final playoff match. Rookie team member Dina McBride won both the #2 singles and doubles point (with Andrea Rice) today. Great Britain, who beat USA in the quarters, went on to win the Cup.
The Men’s 55 team also fifth in their competition, the Austria Cup, beating Chile in the 5/6 playoff 2/0. France won the Austria Cup over Netherlands.
The USA Men’s 50 team finished 9th in the Fred Perry Cup, beating Austria 3/0. France won the Perry Cup over Spain.
