Red Clay Love

It was another misty morning in Lima. In fact, everything was soaking when I arrived at 8 AM for warm-up. It was a little drier by nine though.

I played Graciela Donoso from Argentina someone whom I tower over! I played a good match and won.

After the match, I went back to my apartment finished packing up, did some shoulder exercises, etc., and then went back to the club to see the award ceremony going to be. So I walked back and did a little bit of shopping at the mall. I have mentioned the fact that cars do not stop for pedestrians, even in crosswalks. Today I saw one go one better and run a red light that was there just so pedestrians could cross the street. So be careful crossing streets in Lima.

The award ceremony this year was a bigger event than last year. It was held on the stadium court, and this being South America, they used to female models to stand next to the players while they received their awards.

100% of the kids and the umpires were men or boys. They all did a really good job. Francesca, was the main referee, and worked tireless the eight days to schedule results, etc.

I had one last ceviche for lunch, and headed out for the airport around 6 PM. The traffic was really it took an hour to 20 km which is about 12 miles.

One other thing to know when leaving Lima if you’re going to the USA from there is that you cannot take any water onto the plane or any other liquids that exceed the 100 mL/3.5 ounces rule. So don’t buy any water or if you drink it before you get on the plane.
