On Thursday in Turkey, the USA Young Cup team (W40) beat Spain 3/0 and now face Germany, a 3/0 winner over France. Mariko Fritz Krockow and Anda Perianu at #1 (3 sets) won the singles; Spain defaulted the doubles.
The Men’s 30s had the day off and play Germany for gold on Friday.
The W 30s did not have a day off and beach So Africa 3/0 to finish third and win bronze medals today (though the medal ceremonies are tomorrow after the medal matches are completed).
Men’s 35, Italia Cup: bye today, play Australia tomorrow in the 13/14 playoff.
Men’s 40, Trabert Cup: USA lost 3/0 to Kazakhstan and play So Africa tomorrow. There are three 9-11 playoffs which are round robins…it’s really a 9-17 playoff of some sort, draws of 17 are always a problem with this format.
Men’s 45, Dubler Cup: USA lost 2/1 to Italy and play Australia tomorrow in the 7/8 playoff.
Men’s 50, Perry Cup: USA fell 2/0 to Germany. and play Australia in the 7/8 playoff tomorrow.
Women’s 35, Lenglen Cup: USA had a bye today and plays Great Britain in the 5/6 playoff tomorrow.
Women’s 45, Court Cup: US beat Finland 3/0 and play for 5th tomorrow vs Great Britain.
Women’s 50, Bueno Cup: USA beat Japan 2/1 (Jenny Klitch won at #1 singles and with Tracie Currie in doubles) and plays Canada for 13th tomorrow.
