Today I got up bright and early (good thing it’s light here by 5am!), to warm up with Vicki Buholz on the red clay. It’s pretty slow and soft which I don’t mind. There is about 3000 feet of altitude here, not much but I am still catching the ball a bit late…or maybe it’s that Vicki hits the ball often within a foot of the baseline! the club is right on Lake Tremblant, but the beach and resort is still shuttered for the winter. It’s a long winter here and a short summer.

We warmed up at 7:30 or so till about 8:15, then I waited around for my 9:30 match, which was pretty much on time. Interestingly, my opponent and I wore basically the same top (she had on a red skirt, which was what I meant to wear too, but picked up a white one by accident).

I won, chatted with a few people, then went back to the apartment to do some exercises, stretch, and eat. I went back to the club later and ran into Vicki, who played one of the Canadian team members and also won. Toni played at 4pm so I haven’t seen her since her match, but she did a small adventure, taking the chairlift up the mountain (though at the top she said it was fogged in).
Tomorrow we probably play singles and doubles (the schedule will be out later). And it will be Groundhog Day all over again (except for the massage I had today!). However, I do know I have a Bye in singles tomorrow…Susan Bye, my opponent!
Update: Toni Novak won as well in straight sets. Still waiting for schedule for tomorrow.
