Draws are here (need account (free) to view)

It was a slightly breezy, beautiful sunny day in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and there were a lot of excellent matches. The clay courts here are in good shape, with underground watering so they stay consistently watered during the day. This public facility has a nice clothing shop, a stringer and a good little restaurant (sandwiches, salads and so on).

Susan Boyer won the 60s for the second straight year, winning back to back three setters, rallying from a set down in both matches. She beat Christina Kaus 36 64 62 in a final which lasted around three hours. Kaus pounded the ball and Boyer played nearly errorless tennis, absorbing Kaus’ power repeatedly. It was a good quality match. Erin Boynton beat Shelly Works 64 64 to place third.

In the 70s singles I beat Becky Timmis and Pat Purcell beat Kathy Foulk. Kathy and Pat had a nice match, but Pat made very few errors and won some close tight games.

Sue Kimball and Betty Wachob have played near perfect tennis this week to reach the final match in the 80s round robin tournament.

The 50s have reached the semifinal stage and the top seeds, Susan Wright and Tisha Kilburn have barely lost games in reaching the semis, Wright to face Andrea Askowitz and Kilburn will play Leslie Wargo.

Eva Koksalova beat Karin Duplessis 61 75 to win the 30 singles round robin.

Kristen Charlton/Sue Kaleel won the 40 doubles 75 64 over Koksalova/Kilburn

Adrienne Simmons/Boynton will play Charlton/Kaleel in the 50 doubles final

Jenny Klitch and I beat Trieste McIntosh/Krista Geoffrion by the odd score of 67 61 60; we will face Susan Wright/Christina Kaus in the final, who beat Shelly Works/Daniela Esswein today in straight sets.

In the 70s, Cindy LePrevost/Timmis face Purcell/Jan Cochran in the final.

Wachob/Kimball won the 80 doubles.
