I am taking the scores from the ITF website..apologies if there are any errors…I did note a few 3/0 match scores where USA won the doubles point after losing both singles.
All eight USA teams were in action on Wednesday at Ali Bey Manavgat, Turkey for the first day of the medal round playoff matches for the M/W 30/35/40/45 teams.
The Women’s 40s (Young Cup) are in the semis after beating Portugal 3/0 without much drama. They take on Argentina in the semis. The USA Young Cup team is seeded #2. Argentina beat GBR in the quarters 2/1, winning both singles. The women’s 30s are in a three team playoff for gold. They lost today to a very strong German team but play for silver tomorrow, Thursday against what looks to be a very strong British team.
The ITF distributes medals for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, so both the W30 and W40 teams are guaranteed to medal.
The Men’s 30s, 35s (Italia), and 45s (Dubler) and Women’s 35s (Lenglen) and 45s (Court) all lost in the quarters today with the Dubler Cup team salvaging the doubles point against Great Britain. They all play in the 5-8 playoff tomorrow and Friday.
The Men’s 40s (Trabert) won their first tie of the week in the 13-19 playoff, beating Canada 3/0. They play South Africa next.
