
The Women’s 50 and Men’s 55 Teams both won 2/1 on Wednesday in Lisbon, Portugal at the ITF (tennis) World Team Championships.
In Women’s 50s, USA beat Italy 2/1; Heather Waters fell at #2 singles in a close 2-setter to Padula; Julie Thu won at #1 against Uhnakova and Thu/Waters won 2,3 against Padula/Uhnakova. They advance to the semis tomorrow, Thursday.

The Men’s 55s beat a tough French team 2/1; Dana Gil lost at #2 to Bousquet; Eoin Collins beat Moers 76 57 60 and Kurth Kopp/Peter Smith beat Cayla/Taillefer 4,2 to clinch the win.

The Women’s 55 fell 2/1 to top-seeded Italy in a very close match; Lindsey Montero lost at #2 to Cantoni; Kathy Settles beat former world champion Simona Isadori 4,6 (8-6); but Cantoni/Isadori beat Jen Beindorf/Settles 61 76 10-6 to win the tie…so close! The USA 55 team now plays for 5-8.

The Men’s 50s lost 3/0 to a very tough French team and now plays for 5-8.
